SEDG’s (Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups)

The University Grants Commission(UGC) has launched the Guidelines entitled, “Guidelines to Provide Equitable Opportunity for the Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) in the HEIs” (F.No.6- 2/2022/Part 2(SCT/Guidelines NEP 2020) dated 02.01.2024 for adoption by Higher Education Institutions. The NEP 2020 has specific provisions that are necessary to help India address various challenges to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by all United Nations
Member States in 2015, particularly the challenges related to achieving SDG-4 (quality education), SDG- 5 (gender equality), SDG-1 (no poverty), and SDG-8 (decent work and economic growth). These guidelines are meant to ensure that students belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups(SEDGs) have a safe and secure environment and equitable access to quality education in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), as specified in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The EC of our Institute (Item No:17(133rd EC/2024/17) considered and approved the adoption and implementation of Guidelines to Provide Equitable Opportunity for the Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) in the HEIs.
